Here's a sampling of some of the great events planned for the conference...
No Sweat Yoga with the Honorable Catherine Eagles
Start your first full day of the conference with a clear mind by attending forty-five minutes of “no sweat yoga,” on the grassy knoll overlooking the Grandover's gorgeous greenery, with certified yoga instructor Judge Catherine Eagles.
First-Ever Conference Book Swap
Bring your already-read books and exchange them for great reads from other conference attendees! Boxes will be conveniently located around the conference space where you can swap your books. Please bring extras because any books that are not claimed will be donated to charity. Know of a charity in need of books? Please contact Lesley Albritton. We will be happy to consider your charity for donations.
Annual Book Club: The 5 Keys to the Great Life by Dr. Tomi Bryan
North Carolina author and speaker Dr. Tomi Bryan will be on hand to discuss methods for women to find their authentic voice. We will also be discussing her book, The 5 Keys to the Great Life. Copies are available on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, or at the bookseller of your choice.
Cocktail Hour Featuring the Ken Broun Jazz Trio
Before we sit down to a delicious dinner with keynote speaker the Honorable Allyson Duncan, you'll be able to enjoy a cocktail and network while listening to the jazz stylings of UNC School of Law's very own Ken Broun!
Jewelry Making with Susan Olive
Are you a jewelry-making expert or just a beginner? Either way, we bet you'll love spending some time catching up with friends, making beautiful jewelry, and learning some quick tips on how you can easily make your own earrings or necklace to match that hard to find piece. For this session, you will be provided with all the materials you need to make at least one great piece of jewelry. Keep your masterpiece or donate it to the Urban Ministries of Durham; they will sell the pieces to help fund their programs and family shelter rooms. Come join us, learn some new skills, and have a chance to help others while you’re doing it. This event requires preregistration. Please email Lesley Albritton.
Knit Happens
Are you a knitter, crocheter, someone who does embroidery, or perhaps someone who always wanted to learn how? If so, this gathering is for you. Bring your work-in-progress or start a new one; either way you'll have fun with your fellow yarn enthusiasts! (As there will be a limited amount of yarn and needles provided, please bring your own supplies for maximum enjoyment.) This event requires preregistration. Please email Lesley Albritton.
To take part in these great activities and so much more, register for the annual conference today (early bird rates end August 14)! Don’t forget – our hotel room block expires on August 14, so make your reservations at the Grandover now!
